My family was always involved with music. I remember being held on someone’s lap to bang on the keyboard of an ancient upright piano in our living room and having lessons throughout my school years. When I ordained as a nun music was supposed to be left behind but then Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche came along and had us all singing vajra songs translated into English and put to western style music. When I talked to him about my background, he said I should sing the songs, teach the songs, and write my own.
I don’t think Rinpoche has ever listened to the music I’ve written or the chants I’ve recorded but I will always be grateful to him for gifting music back to me. Here you’ll find a track from a cd recorded years ago and a link to the newest song I’ve recorded with co-composer Bulla LaFosse.
